Spectacular view! |
Driving 5 hours straight along I-81 southbound is deadly boring. Luckily Mun Fei had prepared delicious Chinese food like梅菜炒肉 and 苦瓜鸡腿汤. We ended up having the soup for every meal for the next day. Can't complain much. After lunch we drove another 2 hours drive to Richmond and Mun Fei was the designated driver this time. We arrived in Richmond around 3pm and most of the attractions were about closing. We did some quick look-around in St. John's church and Virginia State Capitol. Richmond Canal Walk is a nice place to stroll in the evening. A triple main-line railroad crossing, a dramatic intersection that can still be seen in operation along the James River and Kanawha Canal. Richmond is the only city in the world that has it. I found this pretty cool. The next day on our way to Shenandoah National State Park, Mun Fei received a ticket for speeding over 20 mph. He told the officer that we're late to meet up with a friend and that's why he speeds. I think the officer doesn't really care for the reasons. There goes a hundred bucks for poor Mun Fei. I used to not care so much when comes to driving on highway/ freeway. I often drive over the speed limit. However, this incident really teaches me a lesson for not speeding anymore. Thanks, Mun Fei. Lol.
