Walking On Ice Lake!

Sunday is our day off from INSANITY workout. It was great to be able to relax and sleep in a bit. Had bagel and lox for breakfast. Spread 1 tablespoon of cream cheese on top of cranberry bagel, topped with New York smoked salmon and tomato slices. I'm tellin' you yo, smoked salmon is the BEST thing ever!

Losing weight ain't about eating tasteless food or starve yourself. It's about changing your lifestyle to eat better with whole food instead of process food/ fast food. There are no junk food in our house right now. The last thing I had was extremely delicate 佳德鳳梨酥 from Taiwan. Thanks to Juliana (Allen's course mate) specially bought it back from Taiwan for us. Calories of 1 small piece of pineapple tart is approximately 225 cal. Ugh, evil.

Originally we want to visit Archbald Pothole State Park but it was closed. I guess they didn't want to risk someone might actually fell down to the 38 feet deep pothole. Then we drove further till we reach Delaware St. trail head, Jermyn. It was pretty quiet as no one wants to walk outside with the temperature showing 30 degree (-1 Celsius). Talk about the winter, there are not much accumulation of snow for this year.

After a short walk at the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail (LRHT) we drove half an hour on Route 6 to Prompton State Park. Something caught my attention when we passed by a pond. I saw a few black figures moving on the pond. That means the water are frozen and I can once again walk on a frozen icy lake! We pulled over to a parking space and got out of the car. I was extremely excited about this cause I kept telling Allen that we should visit High Point State Park in Sussex, NJ to walk on the frozen lake. Now we didn't have to go far to do it. PA has everything you need.

Major was barking a lot. I guess he didn't like the slippery ice or maybe he didn't feel secure enough to walk on a lake. He ended up staying in the car. 10 minutes later a truck pulled up and out came an old man wearing an orange camouflage overall hauling all his fishing equipment in a slate. Even a tent as he planned to fish till 8 PM. I don't think I want to stay out on a lake for more than half an hour. Too cold. Allen asked how deep is the ice, how did he figured that out. He showed us by drilling a hole into the ice. and BAM! A hole with 4 or 5 inches deep. We brave ourselves to walk further as we gained a little bit more confidence.

Later on we proceed to Prompton State Park. This time there were way more people gathering at different spots on the lake, setting up tents and chairs, leisurely ice fishing. Major didn't bark when we brought him to walk on the snow-covered lake. He moved very slowly though. He knows. At the end our toes were frozen numb by staying out in the cold for too long. Yet my heart is satisfied. I'm so glad that my love(s) are by my side together walking on the icy lake.
